पहिले वाचन : योहानचे पहिले पत्र २:२९-३:६
वाचक : योहानचे पहिले पत्र यातून घेतलेले वाचन
"जो कोणी प्रभूच्या ठायी राहतो तो पाप करत नाही.”
योहान म्हणतो, “तो न्यायसंपन्न आहे हे जर तुम्हांला माहीत आहे, तर जो कोणी नीतीने चालतो तो त्याच्यापासून जन्मलेला आहे हेही तुम्हांला माहीत झाले आहे.” आपल्याला देवाची मुले हे नाव मिळाले ह्यात पित्याने आपल्याला केवढे प्रीतिदान दिले आहे पाहा आणि आपण तसे आहातच. ह्यामुळे जग आपल्याला ओळखीत नाही, कारण त्याने त्याला ओळखले नाही. प्रियजनहो, आपण आता देवाची मुले आहोत आणि पुढे आपण काय होऊ, हे अजून प्रकट झालेले नाही; तरी तो प्रकट होईल तेव्हा आपण त्याच्यासारखे होऊ हे आपल्याला माहीत आहे, कारण जसा तो आहे तसाच तो आपल्याला दिसेल. जो कोणी त्यासंबंधाने ही आशा बाळगतो तो, जसा तो शुद्ध आहे, तसे आपणाला शुद्ध करतो.
जो कोणी पाप करतो तो स्वैराचार करतो, कारण पाप स्वैराचार आहे. तुम्हाला माहीत आहे की, पापे हरण करण्यासाठी तो प्रकट झाला. त्याच्याठायी पाप नाही. जो कोणी त्याच्याठायी राहतो तो पाप करीत नाही. जो कोणी पाप करतो त्याने त्याला पाहिले नाही व त्याला ओळखलेही नाही.
If you know, that
he is just, know ye, that every one also, who doth justice, is born of him. Behold
what manner of charity the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be
called, and should be the sons of God. Therefore the world knoweth not us,
because it knew not him. Dearly beloved, we are now the sons of God; and
it hath not yet appeared what we shall be. We know, that, when he shall appear,
we shall be like to him: because we shall see him as he is. And every one
that hath this hope in him, sanctifieth himself, as he also is holy. Whosoever
committeth sin committeth also iniquity; and sin is iniquity. And you know
that he appeared to take away our sins, and in him there is no sin. Whosoever
abideth in him, sinneth not; and whosoever sinneth, hath not seen him, nor
known him.
प्रतिसाद : पृथ्वीच्या कानाकोपऱ्यांनी आमच्या देवाचा विजय पाहिला आहे.
१) नवीन गीत गाऊन प्रभूचे गुणगान करा.
कारण त्याने अलौकिक कृत्ये केली आहेत.
त्याने आपल्या हाताने व पवित्र बाहुबलाने
विजय संपादन केला आहे.
२) पृथ्वीच्या कानाकोपऱ्यांनी आमच्या
देवाचा विजय पाहिला आहे.
पृथ्वीवरील सर्व लोकहो, प्रभूचा जयजयकार करा.
जयघोष करून आनंदाने गा.
३) प्रभूचे गुणगान वीणेवर करा.
मंजुळ स्वराने वीणेवर गा.
तुतारी व कर्णा यांच्या निनादात
प्रभुरायासमोर जयघोष करा.

The Word of God became
flesh and dwelt among us. To those who accepted him he gave power to become the
children of God.

येशूला आपणाकडे येताना पाहून योहान म्हणाला, “हे पाहा, जगाचे पाप हरण करणारे देवाचे कोकरू. माझ्यामागून एक पुरुष येत आहे तो माझ्यापुढे झाला आहे कारण तो माझ्यापूर्वी होता, असे ज्याच्याविषयी मी म्हणालो, तो हाच आहे. मी त्याला ओळखत नव्हतो, तरी इस्राएलला प्रकट व्हावे म्हणून पाण्याने बाप्तिस्मा करीत आलो आहे." आणि योहानने अशी साक्ष दिली की, "आत्मा कबुतरासारखा आकाशातून उतरत असताना आणि त्याच्यावर स्थिर राहिलेला मी पाहिला. मी तर त्याला ओळखत नव्हतो तरी ज्याने मला पाण्याने बाप्तिस्मा करावयास पाठवले त्याने मला सांगितले होते की, ज्या कोणावर आत्मा उतरत असताना व स्थिर राहताना पाहशील तोच पवित्र आत्म्याने बाप्तिस्मा करणार आहे. मी स्वतः पाहिले आहे व साक्ष दिली आहे की, हा देवाचा पुत्र आहे."
The next day, John saw Jesus coming to him, and he saith: Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who taketh away the sin of the world. This is he, of whom I said: After me there cometh a man, who is preferred before me: because he was before me. And I knew him not, but that he may be made manifest in Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. And John gave testimony, saying: I saw the Spirit coming down, as a dove from heaven, and he remained upon him. And I knew him not; but he who sent me to baptize with water, said to me: He upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining upon him, he it is that baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. And I saw, and I gave testimony, that this is the Son of God.
