Born in La Mure d'Isere in southeastern France, Peter Julian's faith journey drew him from being a priest in the Diocese of Grenoble (1834) to joining the Marists (1839) to founding the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament (1856). In addition to those changes, Peter Julian coped with poverty, his father's initial opposition to Peter's vocation, serious illness, a Jansenistic striving for inner perfection and the difficulties of getting diocesan and later papal approval for his new religious community

“योबेलवर्षी तुम्ही सर्वांनी आपआपल्या वतनात परत जावे."
सिनाय पर्वतावर परमेश्वर मोशेला म्हणाला, शब्बाथवर्षे म्हणजे सात गुणिले सात एवढी वर्षे मोजा; ह्या सात शब्बाथवर्षाचा काल एकूणपन्नास वर्षे होय. मग सातव्या महिन्याच्या दशमीस म्हणजे प्रायश्चित्ताच्या दिवशी मोठ्या आवाजाचे शिंग देशभर सर्वत्र फुंकावे. त्या पन्नासाव्या वर्षाला पवित्र मानावे आणि देशातील सर्व रहिवाशी मुक्त झाल्याची घोषणा करावी; ह्या वर्षाला तुम्ही 'योबेल' म्हणावे; ह्या वर्षी तुम्ही आपआपल्या वतनात आपआपल्या कुटुंबात परत जावे. हे पन्नासावे वर्ष तुमचे योबलवर्ष होय त्या वर्षी तुम्ही काही पेरू नये, आपोआप उगवलेले कापू नये आणि छाटणी न केलेल्या द्राक्षवेलींची फळेही तोडू नयेत. कारण हे योबेल वर्ष होय; हे तुम्हाला पवित्र असावे; शेतात सापडेल तो उपज तुम्ही खावा.
"ह्या योबेलवर्षी तुम्ही सर्वांनी आपआपल्या वतनात परत जावे. तुम्ही आपल्या शेजाऱ्याला काही विकाल किंवा त्यांच्याकडून काही विकत घ्याल तेव्हा एकमेकांवर अन्याय करू नका. योबेलवर्षांनंतर जितकी वर्षे झाली असतील त्यांच्या संख्येप्रमाणे आपल्या शेजाऱ्यापासून मोल घ्यावे आणि तितक्या वर्षांच्या उत्पन्नानुसार त्यांनी विक्री करावी. उरलेल्या वर्षांची संख्या अधिक असली तर त्यामानाने मोल वाढवावे आणि कमी असली तर त्यामानाने कमी करावे, कारण जितकी पिके झाली असतील त्याच्या हिशोबाने त्यांनी ती विक्री करावी. तुम्ही एकमेकांवर अन्याय करू नये तर आपल्या देवाचे भय बाळगावे, कारण मी परमेश्वर तुमचा देव आहे.

The Lord spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying, "You shall count seven weeks of years, seven times seven years, so that the time of the seven weeks of years shall give you forty-nine years. Then you shall sound the loud trumpet on the tenth day of the seventh month. On the Day of Atonement you shall sound the trumpet throughout all your land. And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, when each of you shall return to his property and each of you shall return to his clan. That fiftieth year shall be a jubilee for you; in it you shall neither sow nor reap what grows of itself nor gather the grapes from the undressed vines. For it is a jubilee. It shall be holy to you. You may eat the produce of the field. "In this year of jubilee each of you shall return to his property. And if you make a sale to your neighbour or buy from your neighbour, you shall not wrong one another. You shall pay your neighbour according to the number of years after the jubilee, and he shall sell to you according to the number of years for crops. If the years are many, you shall increase the price, and if the years are few, you shall reduce the price, for it is the number of the crops that he is selling to you. You shall not wrong one another, but you shall fear your God, for I am the Lord your God.

Gospel Reading :Matthew 14:1-12
At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard about the fame of Jesus and he said to his servants, "This is John the Baptist. He has been raised from the dead; that is why these miraculous powers are at work in him." For Herod had seized John and bound him and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, because John had been saying to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her." And though he wanted to put him to death, he feared the people, because they held him to be a prophet. But when Herod's birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced before the company and pleased Herod, so that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask. Prompted by her mother, she said, "Give me the head of John the Baptist here on a platter." And the king was sorry. but because of his oaths and his guests he commanded it to be given. He sent and had John beheaded in the prison, and his head was brought on a platter and given to the girl,and she brought it to her mother. And his disciples came and took the body and buried it, and they went and told Jesus.

चिंतन:
परमेश्वर 'योबेल (ज्युबीली) वर्ष' साजरे करण्याविषयी मोशेला सिनाय पर्वतावर साांगतो. ७ गुणिले ७ = ४९ वर्षांनंतर येणाऱ्या ५०व्य वर्षाचे वर्णन लक्षणीय आहेः सर्वांना मुक्तीची घोषणा करणे, मालमत्ता परत करणे, कोणतीही लागवड टाळणे, ४९ वर्षात कुणावर अन्याय केलेला असेल तर त्याप्रमाणे भरपाई करणे, कुणालाही कोणत्याही प्रकारे इजा न करणे व परमेश्वराचे भय बाळगणे... चुकीची निवड नंतर अंतःकरण पोखरू लागते. हेरोद राजा दबावाखाली निर्णय घेतो, हातातील सत्तेचा दुरुपयोग करतो, अन्यायाने वागतो, हिंसा करतो आणि हिंसेचे अपत्य आत्मदोष असते. त्यामुळे नंतर हेरोदाचे मन त्याला खाऊ लागते, पोखरू लागते. म्हणून निवड करताना सत्य, न्याय, नैतिकता ह्या शुभवर्तमानाच्या मूल्यांचा वापर आवश्यक ठरतो. माझी निवड श्रद्धा व नीतिमत्ता ह्यांच्यावर आधारित आहे का...?
प्रार्थना : हे प्रभू येशू, तुझी कृपा मला पूरे आहे. मला क्षमाकर आणि सर्व वाईटापासून दूर राहण्यास कृपा दे, आमेन.
