तू तर दानधर्म करतोस तेव्हा तुझा उजवा हात काय करतो ते तुझ्या डाव्या हाताला कळू नये;when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

पहिले वाचन : १राजां  २:१,६-१४

वाचक : राजांच्या पहिल्या पुस्तकातून घेतलेले वाचन

 “एक अग्नीरथ दृष्टीस पडला आणि एलिया स्वर्गात गेला. "

परमेश्वराने एलियाला वावटळीच्याद्वारे स्वर्गात घेऊन जाण्याचा समय आला त्यावेळी एलिया अलिशाबरोबर गिलगाल येथून चालला होता. तेव्हा एलिया म्हणाला, “अलिशा, परमेश्वर मला यार्देनकडे पाठवत आहे. तू तेथेच थांब.” तो म्हणाला, “परमेश्वरांच्या आणि आपल्या जीविताची शपथ, मी आपणाला सोडावयाचा नाही." मग ते दोघे पुढे चालले. संदेष्ट्यांचे पन्नास शिष्य येऊन त्यांच्यासमोर दूर उभे राहिले आणि ते दोघे यार्देनतीरी उभे राहिले. एलियाने आपला झगा काढून त्याची वळकटी करून ती पाण्यावर मारली, तेव्हा पाणी दुभंग झाले आणि ते दोघे कोरड्या भूमीवरून पलीकडे गेले. ते पलीकडे गेल्यावर एलिया अलिशाला म्हणाला, “मला तुझ्यापासून नेण्यात येण्यापूर्वी मी तुझ्यासाठी काय करू ते मला सांग." अलिशा म्हणाला, “आपल्याठायी असलेल्या आत्म्याचा दुप्पट वाटा माझ्याठायी यावा.” एलिया म्हणाला, "तू दुर्घट गोष्ट मागतोस, पण मला तुझ्यापासून घेऊन जातील त्यासमयी मी तुला दिसलो तर तू मागतोस ते तुला प्राप्त होईल, न दिसलो तर प्राप्त होणार नाही." ते बोलत चालले असता, पाहा, एकाएकी एक अग्निरथ आणि एक अग्निवारू दृष्टीस पडले आणि त्यांनी त्या दोघांना अलग केले. एलिया वावटळीतून स्वर्गात गेला. ते पाहून अलिशा मोठ्याने म्हणाला, "माझ्या बापा ! माझ्या बापा! इस्राएलच्या रथांनो!इस्राएलच्या राउतांनो!" तो पुन्हा त्याच्या नजरेस पडला नाही. तेव्हा त्याने आपली वस्त्रे फाडून त्यांचे दोन दोन तुकडे केले. एलियाचा जो झगा त्याच्या अंगावरून खाली पडला होता तो त्याने उचलून घेतला आणि तो परत जाऊन यार्देनतीरी उभा राहिला. एलियाच्या अंगावरून पडलेला झगा पाण्यावर मारून तो म्हणाला, “एलियाचा देव परमेश्वर कोठे आहे ?” त्याने तो पाण्यावर मारताच पाणी दुभंग झाले आणि अलिशा पलीकडे गेला. 

First Reading :2 Kings 2:1, 6-14

Now when the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven by a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal. [They came to Jericho, and) Elijah said to Elisha, "Please stay here, for the Lord has sent me to the Jordan." But he said, "As the Lord lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you." So the two of them went on. Fifty men of the sons of the prophets also went and stood at some distance from them, as they both were standing by the Jordan, Then Elijah took his cloak and rolled it up and struck the water, and the water was parted to one side and to the other, till the two of them could go over on dry ground. When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, "Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you." And Elisha said, "Please let there be a double portion of your spirit on me." And he said, "You have asked a hard thing; yet, if you see me as I am being taken from you, it shall be so for you, but if you do not see me, it shall not be so." And as they still went on and talked, behold, chariots of fire and horses of fire separated the two of them. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it and he cried, "My father, my father! The chariots of Israel and its horsemen!" And he saw him no more. Then he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces. And he took up the cloak of Elijah that had fallen from him and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan. Then he took the cloak of Elijah that had fallen from him and struck the water, saying, "Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah?" And when he had struck the water, the water was parted to the one side and to the other, and Elisha went over.

This is the word of God

 तुम्ही सर्व हिंमत धरा धीर सोडू नका.

१ )तुझे चांगुलपण किती थोर आहे !

तुझे भय धरणाऱ्यांकरिता तू ते साठवून ठेवले आहे,

तुझा आश्रय करणाऱ्यांसाठी

मनुष्यमात्रांदेखत तू ते सिद्ध केले आहेस.

२) तू आपल्या समक्षतेच्या गुप्त स्थळी 

मनुष्यांच्या कारस्थानांपासून त्यांना लपवतोस, 

शब्दकलहापासून त्यांना आपल्या मंडपात सुरक्षित ठेवतोस.

३) अहो परमेश्वराचे सर्व भक्तहो, 

तुम्ही त्याच्यावर प्रेम करा, 

परमेश्वर विश्वास ठेवणाऱ्यांचे रक्षण करतो

परंतु गर्विष्ठांचे पुरेपूर पारिपत्य करतो.

Psalm 31:20, 21, 24

R. Be strong, let your heart take courage, 

all who hope in the Lord.

How great is the goodness, Lord, 

that you keep for those who fear you, 

that you show to those who trust 

you in the sight of the children of men. R

You hide them in the shelter of your presence,

secure from human scheming;

you keep them safe within your tent

from disputing tongues.

Love the Lord, all you his saints. 

The Lord guards the faithful.

But the Lord will repay to the full

 the one who acts with pride. R

शुभवर्तमान मत्तय ६:१-६,१६-१८

वाचक : मत्तयलिखित पवित्र शुभवर्तमानातून घेतलेले वाचन 

 

"तुझा गुप्तदर्शी पिता तुला फळ देईल."

येशू आपल्या शिष्यांना म्हणाला, "माणसांनी पाहावे ह्या हेतूने तुम्ही आपले धर्माचरण त्यांच्यासमोर न करण्याविषयी जपा. केले तर तुमच्या स्वर्गातील पित्याजवळ तुम्हांला प्रतिफळ नाही.

“जेव्हा जेव्हा तू दानधर्म करतोस तेव्हा तेव्हा लोकांनी आपला गौरव करावा म्हणून, ढोंगी जसे सभास्थानात आणि रस्त्यात आपणापुढे शिंग वाजवतात तसे करू नकोस. मी तुम्हांला नक्की सांगतो की, ते आपले प्रतिफळ भरून पावले आहेत. तू तर दानधर्म करतोस तेव्हा तुझा उजवा हात काय करतो ते तुझ्या डाव्या हाताला कळू नये; अशारीतीने तुझा दानधर्म गुप्तपणे व्हावा म्हणजे तुझा गुप्तदर्शी पिता तुला तुझे फळ देईल.

"तसेच जेव्हा जेव्हा तुम्ही प्रार्थना करता तेव्हा तेव्हा ढोंग्यांसारखे करू नका, लोकांनी आपणांस पाहावे म्हणून सभास्थानांत आणि चवाठ्यांवर उभे राहून प्रार्थना करणे ढोंगी लोकांना आवडते. मी तुम्हांला नक्की सांगतो की, ते आपले प्रतिफळ भरून पावले आहेत. तू तर जेव्हा प्रार्थना करतोस तेव्हा तेव्हा आपल्या खोलीत जा आणि दार लावून घेऊन आपल्या गुप्तवासी पित्याची प्रार्थना कर म्हणजे तुझा गुप्तदर्शी पिता तुला तिचे फळ देईल.

"तुम्ही जेव्हा उपास करता तेव्हा ढोग्यांसारखे म्लानमुख होऊ नका, आपण उपास करीत आहो असे लोकांना दिसावे म्हणून ते आपले तोंड विद्रूप करतात. मी तुम्हांला नक्की सांगतो की, ते आपले प्रतिफळ भरून पावले आहेत. तू तर उपास करतोस तेव्हा आपल्या डोक्याला तेल लाव आणि आपले तोंड धू; अशा हेतूने की, तू उपास करीत आहेस हे लोकांना नव्हे, तर तुझ्या गुप्तवासी पित्याला दिसावे, म्हणजे तुझा गुप्तदर्शी पिता तुला फळ देईल."

लोक : प्रभूचे हे शुभवर्तमान . 

सर्व : हे ख्रिस्ता  तुझी स्तुती असो. 

Gospel Reading:  Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18

At that time: Jesus said to his disciples, "Beware of practising your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. "Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

 "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. "And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

 This is the Gospel of the Lord

चिंतन:आपण आपले जीवन जगत असताना, आपल्याला जाणवते की पृथ्वीवरील आपला वेळ क्षणभंगुर आहे. प्रभू येशू आपल्याला शाश्वत पावित्र्याचे जीवन जगण्यासाठी बोलावत आहे. येशू आपल्याला शिकवतो की खरी महानता बाह्य स्वरूपांनी नव्हे; तर आपल्या हृदयाच्या कप्प्यांतून मोजली जाते. कारण शास्त्री व परूशी काटेकोरपणे नियमशास्त्र पाळत होते व त्यांची ईश्वरनिष्ठा ही फक्त दाखवण्याकरिता होती; म्हणून येशू आपल्या शिष्यांना त्यांचे अनुकरण करू नये तर पवित्र जीवन जगावे ह्याकरिता आमंत्रण करीत आहे. पुढे येशू आपल्या शिष्यांस शिकवत आहे की दानधर्म व प्रार्थना हे परमेश्वराच्या प्रेमासाठी व इतरांवर प्रेम दाखविण्यासाठी अंतःकरणातून आले पाहिजे. आपले दानधर्म, प्रार्थना व उपवास हे फक्त परमेश्वराला प्रसन्न करण्यासाठी केलेपाहिजेत ते लोकांनी आपली स्तुती सुमने गाण्यासाठी नसावेत. आपली भक्ती प्रामाणिक आहे की दिखाऊ आहे ?

प्रार्थना : :  हे प्रभू परमेश्वरा, आमचे आचरण शुद्ध कर व तुला संतोषकारक असावे  म्हणून आम्हाला प्रेरणा व कृपा दे, आमेन.
