संत प्रोसेयुस व मार्टिनिअन
संत पीटर आणि पौल ह्यांना रोमच्या तुरुंगात टाकण्यात आले त्यावेळी तुरुंगाचे रक्षक म्हणून हे दोघे काम पाहात होते. संत पीटर आणि पौल ह्यांनी तुरुंगातदेखील ख्रिस्ती धर्माची सुवार्ता सांगितली आणि अनेक चमत्कार केले.
त्यांनी प्रभावित होऊन अनेकांनी ख्रिस्ती धर्माचा जाहीर स्वीकार केला. त्यात प्रोसेयुस आणि मार्टिनिअन हे सुद्धा होते. त्यांनी पीटर व पौल ह्यांना तुरूंगातून मुक्त होण्याची संधीदेखील देऊ केली होती. परंतु सत्यनिष्ठ प्रेषितांनी ती सरळसरळ नाकारली. पुढे स्नानसंस्कारासाठी आवश्यक असलेले पाणी त्या तुरूंगातील एका खडकातून अद्भुतरित्या धो धो वाहत राहिले.
तुरुंगाधिकारी पौलीनस ह्यांनी प्रोसेयुस आणि मार्टिनिअन ह्या दोघांना आपल्या नवीनतम श्रद्धेपासून परावृत्त करण्याचा खूप प्रयत्न केला, परंतु ते आपल्या दृढ विश्वासापासून तीळमात्र ढळत नाहीत हे पाहून त्यांचा क्रूर छळ करण्यात आला. त्यांच्या श्रद्धेचा अपमान करण्यासाठी त्यांना ज्युपिटरच्या मूर्तीपुढे धूप देण्यास सांगण्यात आले. त्यालाही त्यांनी साफ नकार दिला. संपूर्ण छळाच्या काळात त्यांच्या मुखी एकच वाक्य होते “परमेश्वर सदैव सुवंदित असो." शेवटी त्यांचा शिरच्छेद करण्यात आला.

"जा, माझ्या लोकांना संदेश सांग."
बेथेल येथील याजक अमस्या याने इस्राएलचा राजा यराबाम याला निरोप पाठवला की, "इस्राएली घराण्याच्या भरवस्तीत आमोसने फितुरी केली आहे, त्याची सर्व वचने देशाला सहन होत नाहीत. कारण आमोस म्हणतो, 'यराबाम तरवारीने मरेल, आणि इस्राएलला त्याच्या देशातून खात्रीने पकडून नेतील.'
मग अमस्या आमोसला म्हणाला, “अरे द्रष्ट्या, जा, यहुदा देशात पळून जा, तेथे लोकांना संदेश सांगून पोट भर; पण बेथेलात यापुढे संदेश सांगू नकोस, कारण हे राजाचे पवित्र स्थान, ही राजधानी आहे. तेव्हा आमोस अमस्याला म्हणाला, “मी संदेष्टा नाही किंवा संदेष्ट्याचा पुत्र नाही; तर मी गुराखी, उबंराच्या झाडाची निगा करणारा आहे. मी कळपामागे असता परमेश्वराने मला निवडले. परमेश्वर मला म्हणाला, 'जा, माझे लोक इस्राएल यांस संदेश सांग.'
“तर आता परमेश्वराचे वचन ऐक. तू म्हणतोस, इस्राएलविरुद्ध संदेश सांगू नकोस, इसहाकच्या घराण्याविरुद्ध शब्द काढू नकोस, म्हणून परमेश्वर सांगतो: 'तुझी बायको नगरात वेश्या होईल, तुझे पुत्र आणि तुझ्या कन्या तरवारीने पडतील, तुझी जमीन सूत्र लावून वाटून टाकतील, तू स्वतः अंमगळ देशात मरशील आणि इस्राएलला त्याच्या देशातून खात्रीने बंदिवान करून नेतील.'
First Reading :
Amos 7:10-17
In those days: Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, "Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words. For thus Amos has said, 'Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel must go into exile away from his land." And Amaziah said to Amos, "O seer, go, flee away to the land of Judah, and eat bread there, and prophesy there, but never again prophesy at Bethel, for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is a temple of the kingdom." Then Amos answered and said to Amaziah, "I was no prophet, nor a prophet's son, but I was a herdsman and a dresser of sycamore figs. But the Lord took me from following the flock, and the Lord said to me, 'Go, prophesy to my people Israel. Now therefore hear the word of the Lord. "You say, 'Do not prophesy against Israel, and do not preach against the house of Isaac.' Therefore thus says the Lord: 'Your wife shall be a prostitute in the city, and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your land shall be divided up with a measuring line; you yourself shall die in an unclean land, and Israel shall surely go into exile away from its land."

प्रतिसाद : परमेश्वराचे निर्णय सत्य आहेत.
१) परमेश्वराचे नियमशास्त्र परिपूर्ण आहे,
ते मनाचे पुनरुज्जीवन करते.
परमेश्वराचा निर्बंध विश्वसनीय आहे,
तो भोळ्याना समंजस करतो.
२) परमेश्वराचे आदेश सरळ आहेत,
ते हृदयाला आनंदित करतात.
परमेश्वराची आज्ञा चोख आहे,
ती नेत्रांना प्रकाश देते.
३) परमेश्वराचे भय शुद्ध आहे,
ते सर्वकाळ टिकणारे आहे.
परमेश्वराचे निर्णय सत्य आहेत,
ते संपूर्णतः न्याय्य आहेत.
४) ते सोन्यापेक्षा, बावनकशी सोन्याच्या
राशीपेक्षा इष्ट आहेत,
ते मधापेक्षा, मोहोळातून पाझरणाऱ्या
मधापेक्षा गोड आहेत.

The judgments of the Lord are true; they are, all of them, just.
The law of the Lord is perfect;
it revives the soul.
The decrees of the Lord are steadfast;
