संत जॉन बॉस्कोवर्तनसाक्षी (१८१५- १८८८)✝️अगदी बालपणापासून आपल्या प्रभूने आणि पवित्र मरियेने जॉन ह्याला तरुण युवकांना वाईट मार्गापासून दूर ठेवण्यास आणि प्रामाणिक जीवन जगण्यासप्रवृत्त करण्याची प्रेरणा दिली होती. उत्तर इटलीतील एका गरीब शेतमजूराच्या घरी जन्मलेला जॉन पिएडमोंट ह्या खेड्यात आणि आपल्या गुरूदीक्षेनंतर तुरीन शहरात वेगवेगळ्या मार्गाने परंतु अतिशय प्रेमाने व दयाळूपणे तरूण मुलांशी मैत्री करीत असे व त्यांचा विश्वास संपादन करीत असे. हात चलाखीपणा, जादूचे प्रयोग, दोरीवरून चालणे, व्हायोलिन वाजविणे, गाणी गाणे, गोष्टी सांगणे, छोटे छोटे नाट्यगृह उभारणे, नाटके बसविणे, विविध खेळ इ. द्वारे त्याने बऱ्याच युवकांचा विश्वास संपादन केला.मात्र हे सर्व करीत असताना आपली ख्रिस्ती शिकवणही तो त्या जमावाच्या गळी उतरवित असे. एखादया खेळाची सुरूवात प्रार्थनेने करणे, एखादा प्रयोग संपल्यावर रोझरीची प्रार्थना करणे, मध्येच सकाळी फादरांनी दिलेल्या प्रवचनाचा अर्थ सांगणे अशा रितीने तो युवकांमध्ये आध्यात्मिक गोष्टींची गोडी निर्माण करी.अशा प्रकारे १८४५ सालापर्यंत त्याच्याभोवती जगणाऱ्या युवकांची संख्या ८०० च्याही पुढे गेली होती. अशा मुलांना हिवाळ्यात एकत्र करण्यासाठी त्याच्याकडे जागासुद्धा नव्हती. हातपाय गारठून टाकणाऱ्या त्या थंडीत फ्रा. जॉन ह्यांची काय गडबडघाई होत असे त्याची कल्पनाच न केलेली बरी. त्यावेळी त्याच्या आईने त्याला केलेली मदत खूप मोलाची होती. परंतु पुढे पुढे तीही अपूरी पडू लागली.हळूहळू फा. जॉनच्या कार्याला प्रसिद्धी मिळत गेली. त्याला बरेच सहकारीवा सहाय्यक येऊन मिळाले. त्यांच्या मदतीने त्याने नियमितपणे रात्र शाळेचे आयोजन केले आणि संत फ्रान्सिस डि सेल्स व पवित्र मरिया, ख्रिस्तीजनांची सहाय्या ह्या दोघांच्या आश्रयाखाली तुरीन येथे त्याने सलेशिअन (डॉन बॉस्को) संघाची स्थापना केली.आपल्या संघामध्ये तांत्रिक कार्यशाळा, वसतिगृह इ. इमारती त्याने उभ्या केल्या. त्याचे युवक आता तिथेच राहून आपल्या धर्माविषयी वाचन करीत, लेखनही करीत. दररोजची मिस्सा आणि वारंवार कुमसार/ पापनिवेदन ह्यांची आध्यात्मिक बैठक त्यांच्या युवकांच्या जीवनाला लाभलेली होती. शारीरिक आत्मक्लेश आपल्या आध्यात्मिकतेतून त्याने पूर्णपणे वगळलेले होते. देवाने दिलेल्या शरीराचा व शक्तीचा पूर्ण वापर त्याचे राज्य या भूतलावर आणण्यासाठी करायचा एवढा एकच ध्यास फा. जॉन ह्यांना लागलेला होता.दुसऱ्याच्या मनातील विचार ओळखण्याची एक देणगी फा. जॉन ह्यांना लाभलेली होती. तसेच फा. जॉन ह्यांच्या रुपाने आपल्यामध्ये एक संत राहात आहे ह्याची जाणीव त्याच्या युवकांना झालेली होती. लोकांचा त्याच्यावर एवढा जबरदस्त विश्वास होता की, एकदा त्याने त्यांना शहरातील तुरूंगामधून ३०० कैद्यांना एक दिवसाच्या सहलीसाठी नेले होते. एखादा कैदी पळून जाईल की काय अशी भीतीही अधिकाऱ्यांना वाटली नाही म्हणूनच त्यांना ह्या कैदयांबरोबर सुरक्षा पोलीस यंत्रणा दिलेली नव्हती. फा. जॉननी त्यांना सुरक्षितपणे परत आणले.आपल्या कार्याचा फायदा तरूणींना देखील व्हावा यासाठी त्यांनी “डॉटर्स ऑफ अवर लेडी हेल्पर्स ऑफ ख्रिश्चन्स” ही संस्था स्थापन केली. सलेशिअन संस्थेचा विस्तार होतच राहिला. संस्थापक फा. जॉन ह्यांच्या मृत्यूवेळी २००० संस्था आणि २,५०० धर्मगुरू सलेशियन संघामध्ये कार्यरत होते.संत जॉन बॉस्को ३१ जानेवारी १८८८ साली मरण पावले आणि १९३४ साली संत पदाला पोहोचले.चिंतन : तुमच्याने होईल तेवढे करा, उरलेले देवावर व पवित्र मरियेवर सोपवा. -संत जॉन बॉस्कोआपले जीवन हे आपले असे नाहींच ते परमेश्वराने त्याची योजना पूर्णत्वास नेण्यासाठी दिलेले जणू उसने दान आहे. म्हणूनच दु:खी, कष्टी, असहाय्य व संकटग्रस्त अशा सर्वांच्या मदतीला धावून जाणे आपले परमकर्तव्य आहे. ख्रिस्तसभा आज संत जॉन बॉस्कोचा सन्मान करीत आहेत. आपल्या मधूर वाणीने आणि कर्तव्य बुध्दीने संत जॉन ह्यांनी ख्रिस्ताच्या सुवार्तेची साक्ष जगाला दिली. त्याची आदर्शमय जीवन विशेषत: तरुणांना प्रेरणादायी आहे.

when Gad was come to David, he told him, saying: Either seven years of famine
shall come to thee in thy land: or thou shalt flee three months before thy
adversaries, and they shall pursue thee: or for three days there shall be a
pestilence in thy land. Now therefore deliberate, and see what answer I shall
return to him that sent me.14 And
David said to Gad: I am in a great strait: but it is better that I should fall
into the hands of the Lord (for his mercies are many) than into the hands of
men.15 And the Lord sent a pestilence upon Israel, from the
morning unto the time appointed, and there died of the people from Dan to
Bersabee seventy thousand men.16 And
when the angel of the Lord had stretched out his hand over Jerusalem to destroy
it, the Lord had pity on the affliction, and said to the angel that slew the
people: It is enough: now hold thy hand. And the angel of the Lord was by the
threshingfloor of Areuna the Jebusite.17 And
David said to the Lord, when he saw the angel striking the people: It is I; I
am he that have sinned, I have done wickedly: these that are the sheep, what
have they done? let thy hand, I beseech thee, be turned against me, and against
my father’s house.

येशू आपल्या गावी आला. त्याचे शिष्य त्याच्यामागे आले. मग शब्बाथ दिवशी तो सभास्थानात शिकवू लागला आणि पुष्कळ लोक त्याचे भाषण ऐकून थक्क झाले आणि म्हणाले, "ह्याला हे सर्व कोठून प्राप्त झाले ? काय हे ज्ञान ह्याला देण्यात आले आहे आणि ह्याच्या हातून केवढी ही महत्कृत्ये होतात ! जो सुतार, जो मरियेचा मुलगा आणि याकोब, योसे, यहुदा आणि शिमोन ह्यांचा जो भाऊ तो हाच आहे ना? आणि ह्याच्या बहिणी येथे आपल्याबरोबर आहेत ना?" असे ते त्याच्याविषयी दबकत बोलू लागले. तेव्हा येशू त्यांना म्हणाला, "संदेष्ट्याचा सन्मान होत नाही असे नाही; मात्र त्याच्या देशात, त्याच्या आप्तेष्टांत अथवा त्याच्या घरच्या मंडळीत त्याचा सन्मान होत नसतो." थोड्याशाच रोग्यांवर हात ठेवून त्याने त्यांना बरे केले, ह्याशिवाय दुसरे कोणतेही महत्कृत्य त्याला तेथे करता आले नाही. त्यांच्या अविश्वासामुळे येशूला आश्चर्य वाटले.
