“मला ह्या लोकांचा कळवळा येतो,
"I have compassion on the crowd,

प्रभू येशूने केवळ शारीरिक नव्हे तर तेथे उपस्थित असलेल्या सर्वांची आध्यात्मिक भूक भागविली. कारण ते सर्व जेवून तृप्त झाले. तृप्तता ही शरीराची नसते तर मनाची व अतःकरणाची तृप्तता त्यांना लाभली. त्यानंतर आपण पाहतो की बरेचसे अन्न उरले व त्यांनी ते गोळा केले. ह्याचे दोन अर्थ निघतात. एक म्हणजे भोजनासाठी अनेकांना बोलविले होते परंतु ते आले नाहीत. परमेश्वर सर्वांना त्याच्या स्वर्गीय भोजनात सहभागी होण्यास बोलवित असतो. दुसरा अर्थ असा की देवाच्या आशीर्वादाने सर्व बाबतीत विपुलता येते. देवाच्या आशीर्वादाने माणसांच्या सर्व गरजा पूर्ण होतात. ह्या चमत्काराचे खरे पूर्णत्व पवित्र ख्रिस्त शरीर साक्रांमेन्तात झाले आहे.
पहिले वाचन १ राजा १२:२६-३२; १३:३३-३४
वाचक :राजाच्या पहिल्या पुस्तकातून घेतलेले वाचन
"यराबामने सोन्याची दोन वासरे तयार केली. "
यराबाम आपल्या मनात म्हणाला, “हे राज्य दावीदच्या घराण्याकडे जाण्याचा संभव आहे, लोक येरुशलेमला यज्ञ करावयास गेले तर त्यांचा स्वामी यहुदाचा राजा रहबाम याच्याकडे त्यांचे मन वळेल आणि ते मला जिवे मारून पुन्हा यहुदाचा राजा रहबाम याचे पुनः होतील." म्हणून राजाने आपल्या बरोबरच्या लोकांचा सल्ला घेऊन सोन्याची दोन वासरे केली आणि लोकांना म्हटले, “आजवर तुमचे येरुशलेमला जाणे झाले तेवढे पुरे. हे इस्राएला, ज्या देवांनी तुला इजिप्त देशातून आणले तेच हे पाहा." त्याने एका वासराची बेथेल येथे आणि दुसऱ्याची दान येथे स्थापना केली. ही गोष्ट पापास कारण झाली, कारण दानापर्यंतचे लोक ह्यांपैकी एका वासराच्या दर्शनाला जाऊ लागले. त्याने उच्चस्थानी मंदिरे बांधली आणि सर्व लोकांतून याजक नेमले, ते लेवीचे वंशज नव्हते. मग यराबामने आठव्या महिन्याच्या पंधराव्या दिवशी यहुदातील सणासारखा एक सण केला आणि वेदीवरील होमबली अर्पिले; त्याप्रमाणे त्याने बेथेल येथे आपण केलेल्या वासराप्रीत्यर्थ यज्ञ केले आणि आपण केलेल्या उच्चस्थानांच्या याजकांना बेथेल येथे ठेवले.
एवढे झाले तरी यराबामने आपला दुष्ट मार्ग सोडला नाही, त्याने उच्चस्थानांचे याजक सगळ्या लोकांतून नेमले; आपण उच्चस्थानाचे याजक व्हावे असे ज्यांच्या इच्छेस आले त्यांना त्याने संस्कार केला. या गोष्टीने यराबामच्या घराण्या पाप लागले आणि याचा परिणाम म्हणून त्याचा उच्छेद झाला आणि भूतलावरून ते नष्ट झाले.
प्रभूचा शब्द आहे.

First Reading : 1 Kings 12:26-32; 13:33-34 In those days: Jeroboam said in his heart, "Now the kingdom will turn back to the house of David. If this people go up to offer sacrifices in the temple of the Lord at Jerusalem, then the heart of this people will turn again to their lord, to Rehoboam king of Judah, and they will kill me and return to Rehoboam king of Judah." So the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold. And he said to the people, "You have gone up to Jerusalem long enough. Behold your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt." And he set one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan. Then this thing became a sin, for the people went as far as Dan to be before one. He also made temples on high places, and appointed priests from among all the people, who were not of the Levites. And Jeroboam appointed a feast on the fifteenth day of the eighth month like the feast that was in Judah, and he offered sacrifices on the altar. So he did in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he made. And he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places that he had made. After this thing Jeroboam did not turn from his evil way, but made priests for the high places again from among all the people. Any who would, he ordained to be priests of the high places. And this thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, so as to cut it off and to destroy it from the face of the earth.

प्रतिसाद : हे देवा,तू आपल्या लोकांवर प्रसन्न होतोस, तेव्हा माझी आठवण कर.
१)आम्ही आमच्या पूर्वजांप्रमाणे पाप केले आहे;
आम्ही अन्याय केला आहे, आम्ही दुष्कृत्य केले आहे.
आमच्या पूर्वजांनी इजिप्त देशात असताना तुझ्या
अद्भुत कृत्यांकडे लक्ष दिले नाही.
२) त्यांनी होरेब येथे वासराची मूर्ती केली,
ओतीव मूर्तीची पूजा केली.
त्यांनी आपले ऐश्वर्य जो परमेश्वर त्याच्याऐवजी
गवत खाणाऱ्या बैलाची प्रतिमा स्वीकारली.
३) ते आमच्या उद्धारक देवाला विसरले;
त्याने इजिप्त देशात महत्कृत्ये,
हामाच्या देशात अद्भुत कृत्ये,
तांबड्या समुद्राजवळ भयानक कृत्ये केली होती.
Psalm 106:6-7ab, 19-22
O Lord, remember me with the favour you show to your people.
Like our fathers, we have sinned.
We have done wrong: our deeds have been evil.
Our forebears, when they were in Egypt,
did not grasp the meaning of your wonders. R
They fashioned a calf at Horeb,
and worshiped an image of metal;
they exchanged their glory for
the image of a bull that eats grass. R
They forgot the God who was their saviour,
who had done such great things in Egypt,
such wonders in the land of Ham,
