हे प्रिय येशू ! हे माझ्या प्रिय येशू! मला व्यक्त करता येणार नाही अशी तू माझी अदम्य इच्छा आहेस ! तू माझा आनंद आहेस ! तू दुतांचा आनंद आहेस! तू संतांचे माधुर्य आहेस! - संत रोमाल्ड

पहिले वाचन : २ इतिहासा २४:१७-२५

वाचक : इतिहासाच्या दुसऱ्या पुस्तकातून घेतलेले वाचन

“परमेश्वराच्या मंदिराच्या अंगणात तुम्ही जखऱ्याला ठार केले. " 

यहोयाद मरण पावल्यानंतर यहुदाच्या सरदारांनी राजाकडे जाऊन त्याला मुजरा केला आणि राजाने त्यांचे म्हणणे ऐकले. मग ते आपल्या पूर्वजांचा देव परमेश्वर याच्या मंदिराचा त्याग करून अशेरा मूर्ती आणि इतर मूर्ती यांची उपासना करू लागले. या त्यांच्या अपरांधामुळे परमेश्वराचा क्रोध यहुदावर आणि येरुशलेमवर भडकला, तरी त्यांना आपणाकडे परत आणावे म्हणून परमेश्वराने त्यांच्याकडे संदेष्टे पाठविले; त्यांनी त्यांचा निषेध केला पण ते काही ऐकेनात. मग परमेश्वराचा आत्मा यहोयाद याजकाचा पुत्र जखऱ्या याच्या ठायी आला. त्याने उंच जागी उभे राहून लोकांना म्हटले, “देव म्हणतो, 'तुम्ही परमेश्वराची आज्ञा का उल्लंघिता? अशाने तुम्हाला यश येणार नाही. तुम्ही परमेश्वराला सोडले म्हणून त्यानेही तुम्हाला सोडले आहे. " पण त्यांनी त्याच्याविरुद्ध कट करून राजाज्ञेने मंदिराच्या अंगणात त्यास दगडमार केला. याप्रमाणे त्याचा बाप यहोयाद याने केलेले उपकार योवाश राजा स्मरला नाही, पण त्याने त्याच्या पुत्रांना वधले. त्याच्या मृत्यूसमयी तो म्हणाला, “परमेश्वरा, हे अवलोकन करून याचे उराने फेड."

नवे वर्ष लागताच अराम्यांच्या सेनेने यांवाशवर स्वारी यहुदा आणि येरुशलेम यांच्यावर चालून येऊन त्यांनी त्या लोकांपैकी जे सरदार होते त्यांचा नायनाट केला आणि त्याचे सर्व धन लुटून दिमिष्काच्या राजाकडे पाठवून दिले. अराम्यांच्या सैन्यात फार थोडे लोक होते तरी परमेश्वराने त्यांच्या हाती एक फार मोठे सैन्य लागू दिले, कारण त्यांनी आपल्या पूर्वजांचा देव परमेश्वर याचा त्याग केला होता. याप्रकारे त्यांनी योवाशला शासन केले.

ते त्याला मोठाल्या जखमांनी घायाळ करून निघून गेले, तेव्हा त्याच्या सेवकांनी गहोयाद याजकाच्या पुत्राच्या खुनाकरिता त्याच्याशी फितुरी करून तो बिछान्यावर पडला असताना त्याच्यावर प्रहार करून त्याला ठार केले. त्यांनी त्याला दावीदपुरात मूठमाती दिली, राजांच्या कबरस्थानात दिली नाही.

First Reading :2 Chronicles 24:17-25

After the death of Jehoiada the princes of Judah came and paid homage to the king. Then the king listened to them. And they abandoned the house of the Lord, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherim and the idols. And wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this guilt of theirs. Yet he sent prophets among them to bring them back to the Lord. These testified against them, but they would not pay attention. Then the Spirit of God clothed Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, and he stood above the people, and said to them, "Thus says God, Why do you break the commandments of the Lord, so that you cannot prosper? Because you have forsaken the Lord, he has forsaken you." But they conspired against him, and by command of the king they stoned him with stones in the court of the house of the Lord. Thus Joash the king did not remember the kindness that Jehoiada, Zechariah's father, had shown him, but killed his son. And when he was dying, he said, "May the Lord see and avenge!" At the end of the year the army of the Syrians came up against Joash. They came to Judah and Jerusalem and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people and sent all their spoil to the king of Damascus. Though the army of the Syrians had come with few men, the Lord delivered into their hand a very great army, because Judah had forsaken the Lord, the God of their fathers. Thus they executed judgment on Joash. When they had departed from him, leaving him severely wounded, his servants conspired against him because of the blood of the son of Jehoiada the priest, and killed him on his bed. So he died, and they buried him in the city of David, but they did not bury him in the tombs of the kings.

१) "मी आपल्या निवडलेल्या पुरुषाशी करार केला आहे, 

मी आपला सेवक दावीद ह्याच्याशी शपथ वाहिली आहे;

 मी तुझ्या संततीची परंपरा सर्वकाळ चालवीन, 

तुझे राजासन सर्व पिढ्यांसाठी स्थिर स्थापीन."

२) "मी आपली दया त्याच्यावर सर्वकाळ कायम ठेवीन. 

त्याच्याशी केलेला माझा करार अढळ राहील,

 त्यांची संतती सर्वकाळ राहील आणि 

त्याचे राजासन स्वर्गाच्या दिवसाप्रमाणे 

अक्षय राहील असे करीन."

३) "जर त्याच्या वंशजांनी माझे नियमशास्त्र सोडले, 

माझ्या निर्णयाप्रमाणे ते चालले नाहीत, 

जर माझे नियम त्यांनी मोडले, 

माझ्या आज्ञा पाळल्या नाहीत; 

तर मी त्याच्या अपराधांचे शासन दंडाने करीन. 

त्याच्या अनीतीचा शासन फटक्यांनी करीन."

४) “तरी त्याच्यावरील माझी दया मी दूर करण्यासाठी 

मी आपल्या सत्य वचनाचा भंग करणार नाही,"

शुभवर्तमान मत्तय ६:२४-३४

वाचक : मत्तयलिखित पवित्र शुभवर्तमानातून घेतलेले वाचन 

“उद्याची चिंता करू नका."

येशू आपल्या शिष्यांना म्हणाला, “कोणीही दोन धन्यांची चाकरी करू शकत नाही, कारण तो एकाचा द्वेष करील आणि दुसऱ्यावर प्रीती करील; अथवा एकाशी निष्ठेने वागेल आणि दुसऱ्याला तुच्छ मानील. तुम्ही देवाची आणि धनाची चाकरी करू शकत नाही. 

“ह्यांस्तव मी तुम्हाला सांगतो की, आपल्या जीवनाविषयी, म्हणजे आपण काय खावे व काय प्यावे आणि आपल्या शरीराविषयी, म्हणजे आपण काय पांघरावे, ह्याची चिंता करीत  बसू नका. अन्नापेक्षा जीव आणि वस्त्रापेक्षा शरीर अधिक आहे की नाही? आकाशातील पाखरांकडे निरखून पाहा, ती पेरणी करीत नाही, कापणी करीत नाहीत की कोठारात साठवीत नाहीत; तरी तुमचा स्वर्गीय पिता त्यांना खावयाला देतो, तुम्ही त्यापेक्षा श्रेष्ठ आहा की नाही ? चिंता करून आपल्या आयुष्याची दोरी हातभर वाढविण्यास तुमच्यापैकी कोण समर्थ आहे? तसेच वस्त्राविषयी का चिंता करीत बसता ? रानातील फुले पाहा, ती कशी वाढतात? ती कष्ट करीत नाहीत आणि सूत कातीत नाहीत तरी मी तुम्हांला सांगतो, शलमोनदेखील आपल्या वैभवात त्यातल्या एकासारखा सजला नव्हता. जे रानातले गवत आज आहे आणि उद्या भट्टीत पडते त्याला जर देव असा पोशाख घालतो, तर अहो तुम्ही अल्पविश्वासी, तो तुम्हांला विशेष पोषाख घालतो, तर अहो तुम्ही अल्पविश्वासी, तो विशेषकरून तुम्हांला पोषाख घालणार नाही काय? ह्यास्तव 'काय खावे,' 'काय प्यावे,' 'काय पांघरावे,' असे म्हणत चिंता करीत बसू नका. कारण ही सर्व मिळवण्याची धडपड परराष्ट्रीय लोक करीत असतात. तुम्हांला ह्या सर्वांची गरज आहे हे तुमचा स्वर्गीय पिता जाणून आहे. तर तुम्ही पहिल्याने त्याचे राज्य आणि त्याचे नीतिमत्त्व मिळवण्यास झटा म्हणजे त्यांच्याबरोबर ह्याही सर्व गोष्टी तुम्हांला मिळतील.

"ह्यास्तव उद्याची चिंता करू नका, कारण उद्याची चिंता उद्याला. ज्या दिवसाचे दुःख त्या दिवसाला पुरे."

Gospel Reading:  Matthew 6:24-34

At that time: Jesus said to his disciples, "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one anddespise the other. You cannot serve God and money." "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, "What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?" For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

 This is the Gospel of the Lord

चिंतन: आजचे पहिले वाचन आपल्याला मूर्तिपूजेचे परिणाम आणि देवावर विश्वास ठेवण्याचे आशीर्वाद याची आठवण करून देते. राजा यहोयादने देवाचा त्याग केल्याने त्याचे पतन झाले.

याउलट, आजच्या शुभवर्तमानात येशू आपल्याला प्रथम देवाचे राज्य आणि त्याचेनीतिमत्त्व शोधण्यास शिकवितो. आपण यहोयादच्या चुकांपासून शिकू या आणि त्याऐवजी आपले डोळे प्रभूवर केंद्रित करूया. येशू त्याच्या अनुयायांना देवाच्या दैवी सामर्थ्यावर विश्वास ठेवण्यास प्रोत्साहित करतो, त्यांना अन्न आणि वस्त्र यांसारख्या दैनंदिन गरजांबद्दल चिंता करू नये असे आवाहन करतो.

हा उतारा आपल्याला भौतिक सुरक्षिततेच्या चिंतांपासून देवाच्या प्रेमळ आणि विश्वासू दैवी सामर्थ्यावर खोलवर विश्वास ठेवण्यास सांगतो. माझं लक्ष भौतिक गोष्टी मिळविण्यासाठी लागलेलं आहे, की स्वर्ग प्राप्त होण्यासाठी ?

प्रार्थना :  हे प्रभू येशू, तुझी वचने आत्मसात करून तुझ्या वचनाप्रमाणे जीवन जगण्यास व तुझ्या आज्ञा पाळण्यास आम्हाला कृपा दे, आमेन
