आजच्या शुभवर्तमानात प्रभू येशू सूज्ञ आणि मूर्ख मनुष्यांविषयी स्पष्टीकरण करतांना खडकावर पाया घातलेले घर व वाळूवर बांधलेले घर ह्यांचा दाखला देत आहे. श्रद्धेच्या खडकावर उभारलेले जीवन कायम टिकणारे असते. आपले जीवन डळमळीत नसावे, आपल्या विश्वासात शंका नसावी.
तसेच आपण निराश न होता धैर्याने व चिकाटीने आपल्या जीवनाचा मार्ग क्रमावा| म्हणून प्रभू आपल्याला त्याचा सुज्ञपणा बहाल करीत आहे.जीवनातील संकटे, दुःखे, मोह, प्रलोभने अपयश अशा सर्व परिस्थितीत आपला सर्वांचा टिकाव लागावा म्हणून प्रभू येशूची वचने आत्मसात करून त्याच्या आज्ञा पाळण्यासाठी प्रेरणा मागू या.
पहिले वाचन : २ राजे २४:८-१७
वाचक : राजांच्या दुसऱ्या पुस्तकातून घेतलेले वाचन
"बाबेलच्या राजाने यहोयाखीन यास आणि देशातील सर्व अमीरवर्गास कैद करून बाबेल येथे नेले."यहोयाखीन राज्य करू लागला तेव्हा तो अठरा वर्षांचा होता. त्याने येरुशलेमात तीन महिने राज्य केले. त्याच्या आईचे नाव नेहूष्टा असे होते. ती यरुशलेमच्या एलनाथानची कन्या होती. त्याने आपल्या बापाच्या करणीप्रमाणे परमेश्वराच्या दृष्टीने जे वाईट ते केले.
त्याच्या कारकीर्दीत बाबेलचा राजा नबुखनेस्सर याच्या सेवकांनी येरुशलेमवर स्वारी करून नगराला वेढा दिला. बाबेलचा राजा नबुखनेस्सर याच्या सेवकांनी नगराला वेढा घातला असता तो स्वतः तेथे आला; तेव्हा यहुदाचा राजा यहोयाखीन आपली आई, सेवक, सरदार आणि खोजे यांना बरोबर घेऊन बाबेलच्या राजाकडे गेला. बाबेलच्या राजाने कारकिर्दीच्या आठव्या वर्षी त्याला पकडले. मग त्याने परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरात आणि राजवाड्यात ठेवलेले सारे धन लुटून नेले. शलमोन राजाने जी सोन्याची पात्रे करून परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरात ठेवली होती ती सर्व फोडून त्यांचे त्याने तुकडे केले; तसे होणार हे परमेश्वराने सांगितलेच होते. त्याने अवघे येरुशलेम म्हणजे सर्व सरदार, सर्व पराक्रमी वीर मिळून एकंदर दहा हजार लोक आणि सर्व कारागीर आणि लोहार यांना कैद करुन नेले; देशात अगदी कंगाल लोकांखेरीज कोणी राहिले नाहीत. त्याने यहोयाखीनला बाबेल येथे नेले. राजाची आई, राजाच्या स्त्रिया, खोजे आणि देशातील मोठमोठे लोक यांना त्याने कैद करून बाबेल येथे नेले, एकंदर सात हजार धट्टेकट्टे लोक आणि एक हजार कारागीर आणि लोहार बाबेलच्या राजाने कैद करून बाबेल येथे नेले, हे सारे युद्धास लायक आणि बळकट होते. बाबेलच्या राजाने त्याच्याजागी त्याचा चुलता मत्तन्या यास राजा केले, त्याने त्याचे नाव बदलून सिदकिया असे ठेवले.

Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned for three months in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Nehushta the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem. And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father had done. At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged. And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to the city while his servants were besieging it, and Jehoiachin the king of Judah gave himself up to the king of Babylon, himself and his mother and his servants and his officials and his palace officials. The king of Babylon took him prisoner in the eighth year of his reign and carried off all the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold in the temple of the Lord, which Solomon king of Israel had made, as the Lord had foretold. He carried away all Jerusalem and all the officials and all the mighty men of valour, ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and the smiths. None remained, except the poorest people of the land. And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon. The king's mother, the king's wives, his officials, and the chief men of the land he took into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon. And the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon all the men of valour, seven thousand, and the craftsmen and the metal workers, one thousand, all of them strong and fit for war. And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin's uncle, king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

Gospel Reading: Matthew 7:21-29
At that time: Jesus said to his disciples, "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord', will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness. "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it." And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.

चिंतन: येशूने "उत्कृष्ट कृत्ये" करणाऱ्या प्रत्येक परूशांपासून सुवार्तेचे वर्तन स्पष्टपणे वेगळे केले आहे. आता तो मस्ती असल्याचा आव आणणाऱ्यांची आणि खोट्या चमत्काराच्या पोकळ शब्द प्रयोगाची निंदा करतात. न्यायाच्या वेळी, फक्त निकष शब्द वापराला जाईल. देवाचे जग खडकावर न बांधलेले घर एखाद्या वादळाच्या धडकेने कोसळते. त्यामुळे दृढ विश्वासाने न बांधलेले जीवन संकटे येतात. तेव्हा कोसळते. खडकासारखी सुसंगत असणे म्हणजे येशूचे वचन आचरणात आणणे. चाचणिच्या वेळी सुरक्षितेचे इतर सर्व स्तोत्र अयशस्वी होतील. केवळ विश्वासाची आज्ञा पालन टिकेल. येशू खात्री देतो. तुमचे अंतःकरण अस्वस्थ होऊ देऊ नका. देवावर विश्वास ठेवा. माझ्यावरही विश्वास ठेवा. जर तुम्ही माझ्याकडे राहिलात आणि माझे शब्द तुम्हांमध्ये राहिले तर तुम्हांला खूप फळ मिळेल.
